In a speech made in Washington to the Rainbow Coalition, Bill Clinton compared rapper Sister Soulja, and her racist views, to David Duke. While this shocked Jesse Jackson, the media has only reported it as they would any event, not taking sides or dumping on anyone. Had Vice President Dan Quayle said the exact thing, you can bet the media and every so-called comedian would have had a field day. It is this kind of slanted reporting the media has come to represent.
If you’ve paid any attention to what I have written, you, understand my position on the media. The media contributes as much to the problems of America as any other single issue and because of the influence the media has, it may be the major problem. They give the most perverted side of our society a national platform in an effort to support their agenda.
I was surprised to read an article in the June 13-19 TV Guide entitled “The media’s middle name is not objectivity.” In it, writer Harry Stein discusses media bias and quotes Bernard Goldberg of CBS’s 48 Hours. Goldberg says, “We in the press like to say we’re honest brokers of information, and it’s just not true. The press does have an agenda.” Will wonders ever cease?
In 1989, the Smithsonian Institution sponsored a conference, “Global Environment: Are We Overreacting?” The conference was co-chaired by the CEO’s of ABC, NBC, CBS, Turner Broadcasting, Time, Warner and the L.A. Times and many prominent journalists participated. The only reporting of the conference was written by David Brooks of the Wall Street Journal. In a Journal article printed October 5, 1989 he wrote, “Through the entire conference, not a single disagreement deflected the steady breeze of alarmism. Perpetual apocalyptics such as Lester Drown and Paul Ehrlich rattled off their anthems of doom…Speakers and panels moved briskly on and off the podium: an acid rain crisis, a toxics crisis, a famine crisis, a population crisis. The result was a smorgasbord of apocalypse.”
One panelist, Charles Alexander, declared, “As the science editor of Time, I would freely admit that on this issue we have crossed the boundary from news reporting to advocacy.””
He was applauded by journalists for making the statement and Andrea Mitchell, an NBC News journalist agreed and said, “Clearly the networks have made a decision now, where you’d have to call it advocacy.” I wonder if those two still have their jobs.
The fact that none of this has been reported to the American public further shows how one sided the media has kept to their decision. CNN, the major networks and the print media have become the most lopsided reporters and supporters of the eco-terrorism campaign launched on the American people in the history of journalism.
I find it incredible that in socialistic countries, like the former Soviet Union, the people were lied to by a press controlled by the government, while here in America, where the press is protected by the Constitution so they can report the truth, they choose to lie.
If this version of “freedom of the press” is what Americans have died for in wars starting with the revolutionary war, I don’t want any part of it. If freedom of the press means they have a license to lie to us, I don’t want any part of it.
Everything you know about any current event you learned from the media. A media who has an agenda, a media who advocates global environmental crisis, a media who has become expert at slanting issues. A media who lies to America by not reporting both sides of an issue. A media that reports with advocacy instead of objectivity.
Michael Gartner, the president of NBC News, stated in USA Today, “…change the Constitution…there is no reason for anyone in this country, anyone except a police officer or a military person to buy, to own, to have, to use a handgun…” While I will fight for him having the right to have an opinion, I violently disagree with him using the power of NBC News to put forth his agenda. In June Mr. Gartner started his war on the second amendment with a major anti-gun special using the network’s airtime and imposing his view on millions of Americans. If that is not advocacy and having an agenda, I don’t know what is. Three weeks after Mr. Gartner’s USA Today editorial, Congressman Major Owens introduced a resolution (H.J. Res. 438) to repeal the second amendment to the Constitution. I can’t even fathom that!
Tell me Jane Fonda is not an activist. She, of course, has the right to be. But Hanoi Jane has just married Ted Turner and she is now able to impose her views on CNN and TBS. During the RIO summit CNN and TBS aired all of the propaganda that spewed forth from the 1992 version of Woodstock. With updates many times a day CNN did its best to brainwash America into believing the summit was greatest happening on earth and America is the worst country on earth.
In one report they interviewed a fisherman on the East Coast that needs an operation for cataracts. He had been a fisherman for more than fifty years and they implied his eye problem was linked to ozone depletion resulting in increased ultraviolet (UV) light emission. Being out on the water so much is supposedly what caused his problem. This is exactly the kind of slanted reporting I’m referring to. You can present anything; anyway your agenda needs you to. My ninety-six year old grandmother has cataracts and she has spent most of her life indoors. The truth, about UV light, is it has been decreasing not increasing the way the doomsayers want you to believe. To quote Dr. D.L. Ray in her book “Trashing the Planet,” she states “…actual records from a network of recording instruments set up in 1974 to measure ultraviolet light reaching the earth’s surface have shown a continuously decreasing penetration of from 0.5 percent to 1.l percent per year.”
Why has the media joined the eco-terrorists in a campaign to scare Americans with lies and half-truths? Why does the media obstruct the truth? Your very freedom is hanging on the answer to that question. Don’t you think it’s time for you to find out if I know what I’m talking about?
